1 Year Together

So I was slightly off, it was actually as of yesterday (December 3) that the trio have been home together for a year, after 4 1/2 LONG months in the NICU. What a year it has been! So many joys, worries, ups and downs, tears shed, prayers said, moments of amazement, and moments of exhaustion but we wouldn't trade it for the world! I remember bringing Mady home and being so scared of how to hold her and not hurt her because of her majorly distended belly, let alone the fact that looking back they were still all skin and bones then but to us they seemed huge from where they started! Here are some pictures from the day we brought Mady home and then one from Thanksgiving this year, all I can say is that I am so thankful everday for how far these little ones have come.
Annabel saw Miss Ida for the 1st time today and Miss Ida is very happy with how well Annabel is doing that she's not seeing her for another 6 months and we don't have any new excersises or patching to worry about! She said it is very promising to see that she is not crossed at least 50% of the time and she said that her rocking back and forth is actually a phase that many children go thru and that she will outgrow it, it is nothing to do with her CP. She also noted that as of now Annabel tends to need to turn her head to focus on things instead of just moving her eyes but apparently this isn't a big concern, what matter is that she is focusing one way or another. So she's technically still "on watch" for surgery but it appears that it is one we will most likely avoid!
On another note, if any of you are shopping at Barnes and Noble this year I was in there yesterday and they are doing a program where you can pick a childs gender and age and then buy an appropriate book and they are donating them to children that are in Mott's Childrens Hospital over the holidays. How awesome is that? It felt great to give back, even if in a small way. I know Johnathan got a really cute teddy bear from Chelsea Teddy Bear co. when he was in earlier in the year and at the time I thought it was so thoughtful of whoever donated them!
