Wednesday night (3/4) Johnathan stood up by himself in the middle of the floor with no support for the very first time! This is a huge developmental thing and so exciting to see! On Thursday Johnathan had speech therapy and he did so well! We are working on the Ling sounds (ah, ee, oo, s, sh, m) and when we were working on ah Johnathan actually started repeating the ah sound back to us, and did this numerous times! This was the most back and forth repeating he's ever done, I was so proud of him and he was pretty proud too!
Johnathan's latest "thing" is that he likes to take one shoe off and chew on it so of course I had to capture it! He then proceeds to play for a long time that way, walking unstable and just being a goof! The things they think of...
Friday Early On PT and OT came for a visit. We discussed Annabel and her sensory needs and how she is still rocking quite badly, even after doing the brushing every day for almost a month now. So, the input from the OT is that she is requiring and asking for even more deep stimulation, basically she is wanting to move more but can't herself and gets quite frustrated. So for now we are stopping the brushing
and will do two 10 minute sessions in the morning where she lays in a blanket and we scoot her across the floor, pick it up and bounce her, and even bounce her softly against the couch - she LOVES it!! From this we may need to incorporate some brushing or neoprene vest wearing back in to the schedule, depending on how her system responds. In addition to this we will be building a little obstacle course/gym area in the basement for the trio to help with their gross and fine motor skills, coordination, etc. This will benefit all 3 but will be very important for Annabel. So with this we are seeking an older loveseat, couch/outdoor cushions, mattresses, foam pads, sleeping bags, etc. that people may have to get rid of as they will be instrumental in our little gym. I am excited to build this for the kids, I think it will be a great developmental thing for them but will be fun too!
The other day Mady and Johnathan were crawling thru the tunnel and it was amazing to see how just a couple weeks can change their motor skills, they are now zipping thru this thing!
My parents and I did take the kids to Portrait Innovations for their pictures yesterday and I was very happy with the results, including the picture for March For Babies. I will post nexttime, I have to go get ready for Saturday morning pancakes! Have a great weekend!
