Over the 4th we went to NY to visit B.J.’s family. Saturday we went to B.J.’s high school friends wedding then Monday thru Wednesday B.J. and I went on our “getaway” to the Finger Lakes.
We stayed at this beautiful castle, Belhurst.
Our room was actually in the newer Inn and it was beautiful – fireplace, Jacuzzi, the works! We had a great time seeing the area and going to quite a few different wineries, spending way too much on wine!

The only bummer part about the week was that the weather wasn’t what it was supposed to be, it was rainy and chilly. The kids were all good while we were gone, including that Annabel ate great for my mother-in-law which was a huge relief!

Wednesday the 1st we came back to his parents and spent the rest of the week there, enjoying time with family and having a 4th of July bbq on Saturday with excellent food – ribs, chicken, clams, macaroni salad, SO good!
Mady and Johnathan played in the sandbox for the first time with cousins Paige and Austin on Saturday and had a great time! We have one at home too, can’t wait to get them out there once the swingset is done and to have Annabel play too! Over the week the kids tried and learned quite a few new things. They LOVE rice krispie treats (aka yum-yums), animal crackers, French toast, noodles with parmesan cheese, hot dogs, pizza, etc. They really ate great! Annabel even picked up and fed herself quite a few of the animal crackers! She did great with sitting and jabbering this past week, B.J.’s parents are quite pleased with how she’s developing, specifically with how well she now focuses on people when they talk to her. The girls orthotics were bothering them a bit towards the end of the week so we left them off over the weekend and we were very pleased with how well Mady was walking outside on uneven ground without them! Her cousin Paige gave the trio all of her Build-a-Bear stuff, including the stroller and Mady was so proud of herself pushing that around the yard! Johnathan did well learning some new words – on and off and associating more things such as the deer on a pillow with the deerhead hanging on the wall. I am getting Johnathan in for his next audiology appointment sooner than planned because over the weekend he was outside with his hearing aids in and B.J.’s dad did the back-up horns on the semitrailer and the air horn and neither seemed to phase him so I’m not sure if an adjustment needs to be made or what is going on? He has also been tugging at his left ear with the hearing aid in so who knows?
We decided to try Annabel with the actual patch that she wears under her glasses for 2 hours a day given that the other patch wasn't working, so far so good and I think she looks pretty darn cute! The swingset is almost done, it is now usable, just needs to be sanded and the canopy put on. The kids have been having a great time swinging and sliding! We recently brought up the play kitchen and shopping cart for the kids and they have been having a ball with that. This Saturday is the trios 2nd b-day party, boy how time has flown! Yesterday we took them for their 2 year pictures, they did great, no fussiness at all! I will have to post the pictures soon! We recently found out that my dad has a tumor on his kidney that needs to be removed. Thankfully it is not urgent as the tumor is very small and is just protruding off the kidney, not encompassed within. So he is scheduled to have the tumor removed on August 13, there is not any chemo or radiation for kidney cancer. So please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery that they are able to remove everything and that he heals well.
