This past weekend we went camping, this time to Brighton Rec again. It is nice doing some of the short trips where we don’t have a long drive to and from, makes it a lot easier for packing, unpacking, and cleaning up the camper! My cousin Julie went with us from Friday to Saturday, she was a BIG help and the kids had a lot of fun with her. She took Mady and Johnathan for many walks around the campgrounds.
Because she was with us (providing an extra set of hands) and the weather was beautiful on Friday we took the kids to the beach. They all loved splashing around and Annabel sat for a good 25 minutes towards the shore playing in the water, she is definitely our water baby!
Johnathan was also pretty happy playing in the sand, he is 100% boy!
While we were camping Annabel did some “walking”. I held her up by her armpits and lightly prompted her to step by moving her shoulders and she did, with both feet, “walking” a good 20 feet!!
She was very active all weekend, crawling and rolling around on the ground, makes for some dirty clothes but we love seeing her venturing about and examining her surroundings! The kids used their new Crayola crayon camping chairs for the 1st time, these kept Mady and Johnathan entertained for quite awhile, going back and forth between them.

Mady and Johnathan said quite a few new words this weekend (mostly animal related) such as duck, quack, woof, they’re getting their “k” and “t” sounds down nicely! Lately both Mady and Johnathan have been more attuned to Annabel, including her in play, taking toys to her and Mady has started saying “Hi sissy”. This video is from behind but shows Mady reaching out to her and saying Hi sissy.
Johnathan also tried smores for the first time and LOVED them!!

Last Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday my aunt and uncle from Florida were at our house for a visit. It was great to see them and for them to see the kids, they hadn’t seen them since the NICU. They were both amazed at how well all three are doing. This week we have therapy at DMC on Thursday at 8:15 (it will be interesting getting them all there that early), Thursday afternoon my parents and I are going to take them to the 4-H fair, Friday they have 2 year well child in the afternoon, Saturday Annabel has hippotherapy and aqua therapy, and either this Sunday or next weekend we’re planning to take the kids on their first trip to the zoo!

Hi, at how many week your children born? Did you go to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital for your children's eyes? If yes... what problem they had? please let me know because I haev to com to Beaumont Hospital for my little girl.
I Wait for your news.
Thanx a lot.
Andrea from Italy
My triples (G/G/B) were born at 26 weeks. I delivered at and they spent most of the NICU time at UofM hospital in Ann Arbor, their opthamalogist there was Dr. Stephen Archer, he is the one who performed the laser surgery on Johnathan and Madelyn for their ROP and he detected that Johnathan's retinas could detach and had us transferred to Beaumont Royal Oak to Dr. Cappone.
Johnathan was there for 2 days and ended up being discharged to home from there! Thus far he's only needed the initial laser surgeries at the U on both eyes and then the victrectomy on both eyes at Beaumont.
I highly recommend the team at Beaumont, although I would have to say that how much can be done is based on how earlier potential problems are detected.
Madelyn only needed the initial laser surgeries at the U for ROP and Annabel's ROP didn't progress to need any surgeries although she does have a lazy eye and now wears a patch for a couple hours per day with her glasses. She may or may not need a surgery yet.
Best of luck, let me know if you have any more questions.
Jamie
Dr.. Capone said to us to come between 48 and 52 weeks of the girl. So we are arranging all the necessary to be there on that period...
we hope that everything goes right.
Thanx again .
Bye
Andrea
Dr. Capone write to us:
While there is always urgency to fix things as soon as possible, this surgery will require peeling scar tissue from the surface of the retina. To achieve this, the abnormal blood vessels of ROP must be regressed or dormant. This typical occurs by 48-52 weeks. To operate earlier is not practical at best, and invites problems at worst.
So, as I told you in my last message we will be in Royal Oak around these weeks...
I hope that this is the right period....
Bye.
Andrea

Andrea, how did everything go with Angelica's victrectomies? I was thinking about you and your little girl and was praying that it was a success!
Jamie
Thank you for your pray!
Dr. Capone said to us that we arrived there in the period he wanted.
He did vitrectomies in both eyes and he told us that the central part of retina and even some lateral parts attached in both of them and took the shape of the macula yet.
After 15 day of surgery she reacts to light.
Capone said to us that he is very happy of how things went on for Angelica and he told us even that he expects functions for her eyes. What do you think?
How did it go with Johnatan?
Does he see well?
Thank you very much for your support!
Andrea, Jolanda and Angelica
