Over the last few days the babies have gotten to try a lot of true table foods. We started with mashed potatoes and corn Thursday, Friday was pizza (the crust was a bit hit!), Saturday was mac and cheese, and today was chicken nuggets and tater tots. So far Annabel by far eats the most, pretty much eating a whole meal of table foods. Johnathan samples pretty much everything (feeding himself) but definitely doesn't make a meal of it. Mady is actually the pickiest eater of table foods. I think she's going to need a gradual introduction with plenty of Gerber 2's and 3's food to go
along with it. She's great at feeding herself puffs, toast, waffles, but isn't so sure on the slippier textured things like mac and cheese, etc. And per the pediatrician's instructions we have been loading everything possible with LOTs of butter!Friday morning was our 1st Early On visit of the school year, with both PT and OT coming to see the babies. First we discussed Johnathan and his eating and both therapists are very happy with the progress he's made in the last couple of weeks and how willing he is to feed himself things, even if it's not a lot yet. We were given some good techniques to help him and after being really
worried for awhile, I think he will get it eventually! I also had OT look at Annabel because she seems to be okay with feeding herself things like crunchies, pizza crust, etc. but not picking up smaller things off her tray to feed herself. The thought is that she's having some texture issues so she will be getting a touch board with all sorts of textures and we will work with her to get comfortable with all of them. So the main focus of this 1st visit was OT with some PT. Our PT was very happy with all 3 of the babies, nothing majorly new to work on, sort of on hold for Annabel to see what all CHAMP will be having her do these next few weeks.

Friday afternoon I took Johnathan to his audiology appointment and I mentioned to the
audiologist that he's been terrible about pulling his hearing aids out as soon as we put them in lately. So the first thing done was to look at his ears and see if there's fluid built up and/or an infection causing problems. Sure enough, there was quite a bit of fluid on his left ear and some on his right. So she decided to test his hearing as planned to see if the fluid was causing problems and his test showed 20-30 decibels worse in each ear. So from there she had one of the OTO doctors look at him and the fluid was confirmed, thankfully at least with no infection. So Johnathan was prescribed zythromax to help clear up the fluid. Today we tried his one hearing aid and he seemed to tolerate it fine so it appears that the medicine is working! The frustrating part is that the nurse at his lung function test on Tuesday thought he had fluid built up but the doctor said there wasn't so he could have been started on meds sooner - urggh! Tuesday really was not a
good day! We will have to wait and see how Johnathan responds, because of him already having hearing loss, if he repeatedly has fluid built up they will insert tubes so it doesn't affect his hearing more negatively.

Luckily my little man has been so happy thru all of this, he really can handle a lot!
So Johnathan has officially mastered sitting up on his own first!! He has also taken over the lead
for weight the last two baths, tonight by 1 ounce. Tonight Madelyn was standing up on her own when Daddy was right behind her (his shirt is wet from all the rain because we just go home) and she's figured out how to make all these parts move and sounds go on this basketball toy we have. Annabel has been very interactive with Johnathan, pretty much every day they get in to each other, him giggling
like crazy and her checking him out, touching his face and hair or lightly slapping his cheek, he loves it! They continue to amaze me all the time. It seems for awhile we were in a bit of a standstill developmentally and now all of a sudden they're all doing so much so quick! I love it!!
