Fun Updates

What a fun few days it has been! To start, a year ago on October 24th was when Annabel came home from the hospital. Can you believe how much she has changed in a year!?! I can’t! She continues to amaze us everyday. Her latest developments are that when we say “yes” or “no”, she shakes her head appropriately in response! She is now high-fiving too and she’s been successfully taking a puff or cheerio from our hand into her right and feeding herself! Not off the tray yet, she still needs it brought up to her eye level, but what an awesome development! Yesterday I had her prop-sitting for over a minute and this weekend she actually sought out a toy and rolled to get to it! She has been very focused on the toys she’s playing with and on people lately too and overall has been a very happy girl!

Johnathan is getting more and more confident on his feet which is good and bad. Bad because he’s now exploring everything – bound and determined to get to the entertainment equipment, clears off our end tables, sails around the room by side-stepping along the couches, thinks he can pull up on anything (including the dogs), and with 3 it is hard to always be right there to protect him as much as I’d like but so far he’s been fine, just a few head conks. No blood drawn or any scars at least! The good part is that it’s so awesome watching him do all these things! And his sisters are certainly learning from him too! Overall Johnathan has been doing so much better with his solids eating. Yesterday he ate all of his lunch, which consisted of spaghetti o’s, squash with butter, and vanilla pudding – his favorite! He now has all four of his central incisors so that’s helping him too.

Madelyn is now sitting up on her knees to play and explore and we can tell she’s contemplating pulling up to stand but hasn’t decided to quite yet. Mady is a lot more deliberate in her movements than Johnathan. Johnathan just plows ahead no matter what but Mady wants to feel more sure of her capabilities before she proceeds. It’s so cute to see their minds working! Mady is our little explorer of rooms and I think will be mommy’s helper. If we don’t have the gates up she’s right out in the kitchen or office with me.

This past weekend I was able to go a girl’s scrapbooking overnight from Friday to Saturday (that’s why I didn’t get Annabel’s posting from her arrival home done until now). It was great because I got quite a bit done (finally started our wedding scrapbook, only 5 years later!) and most importantly I was able to spend QT time with one of my best friends who I don’t get to see very often. She and I have said that we need to meet up to scrap more often! I came home on Saturday to watch the end of the MSU vs. UofM game and when it comes to that game I am still a Sparty at heart! Mady was dressed in State shirts. Her and I were quite happy when our team won!

So B.J. took care of the babies all by himself while I was gone. I knew he could do it and sure enough, he did great! He said the hardest part was when feeding solids because there are just not enough hands to be able to feed all 3. Thank goodness that Mady can self-feed some, it definitely helped! Don’t worry, soon B.J. will get to do his thing when he goes to NY to deer hunt with his Dad and brother-in-law, mid-November but luckily I will have my parents help while he is gone!

I am confident that your second year will be much more "fun" than the first.
