Annabel slept great last night, as she has been, not vomitting or waking up at all. This morning I was able to get 2 ounces of pedialyte in her but then she went to burp and spewed it everywhere again. She did finish 2 more ounces after that and kept it in so that was good. I did end up taking her to the pediatrician, today seeing Dr. Gessner whom I've always liked as an equal to our pediatrician, Dr. Madison. Dr. Gessner confirmed that we did the right thing by not taking her to the ER because we were able to keep her hydrated and she also feels that it is not her shunt, if it were a shunt malfunction she'd be likely to be running a temp and vomitting uncontrollably. Dr. G. also confirmed that it is not a typical virus she has been fighting, there is an underlying issue. The biggest concern is that she's lost quite a bit of weight from all this, down to 16lbs 11ozs, from 18lbs 9ozs not too long ago. So the plan Dr. G. and I came up with is to a) get her back on track with weight via pediasure and then cut back to whole milk again, b) once she's stopped having diarrhea use the miralax to eleviate constipation, and c) she may be having some reflux issues (we've noticed for some time that she doesn't burp/pass gas like the other two) so she is now on 1.5 ml's of zantac twice a day (she was on this when she first came home but didn't appear to need it anymore). I have a follow-up appointment scheduled with Dr. G. on Friday to monitor Annabel's weight and make sure the plan is working. So far so good. She's been quite thirsty today, wanting to drink the pediasure, and has taken in 14ozs plus some applesauce, much better than yesterday! Because Johnathan and Madelyn have also been at a bit of a standstill in the weight gain department and our kids could use extra weight to help their lungs grow quicker, we have decided to give them pediasure for their snack bottles for a little extra boost with whole milk for the rest of their liquids so hopefully we'll see some positive results for them too! Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers, it's been an overwhelming few weeks, we're just so ready to see her feeling better agian and to get back in the groove of therapy, etc.!
