Big House, Big Heart 2009 and PM&R Update

This past Sunday our family participated in the Big House, Big Heart walk at UofM. We have done this walk for the past 3 years, the first year of the walk was when the trio were still in the NICU. The walk benefits Motts Children’s Hospital and the neurological department, both of which impact our lives daily. This year was exciting because Mady and Johnathan were able to walk across the finish line – what a huge accomplishment given where they were 3 years ago! And Annabel was able to sit for pictures on the field, exactly what Mady and Johnathan had newly discovered one year ago, not too shabby to only be off by a year! So maybe next year Annabel will be walking across the finish line too! The weather was chilly but thankfully the rain held off until the afternoon. I was able to get a couple pics of them in their UofM garb – the girls were cute in their cheerleader outfits! Johnathan loved running around the field but it was too cold to stay for long.

Yesterday all three had PM&R. Overall it was a very good visit! Annabel’s blood pressure was fabulous at 90/56! Her head circumference has grown by 2 cms and Mady’s and Jonathan’s also grew! Annabel is weighing the most again at just shy of 22lbs and she is the tallest at 82cms! Dr. Hornyak is very happy with their progress and with their muscle tone and range of motion, no concerns at this time. He is amazed how well Annabel is doing and believes she will continue right on developing. He does not need to see Mady and Johnathan for another year now, Annabel still at 6 months – yeah!! I love starting to eliminate appointments!

Very fun!!! Wish we could have been there, too. We are so excited that Jonathan and Mady walked across the finish line. Can't wait to have K do that next year!
