11 Months and NO Diagnosis!!

It is so hard to believe that the babies turned 11 months old today. Where has the time gone? I guess when they spent 4 1/2 of those months in the NICU it feels as if it goes by even quicker, especially these last 6 1/2 months!

This morning we had their Physical Medicine and Rehab appointment. I had originally though that Dr. Hornyak would diagnose Annabel with mild CP in her left hand but after seeing her he is very happy with her progress and her awesome range of motion that at this time the diagnosis wouldn't change anything as far as insurance coverage and therapy so he decided to wait on any diagnosis and see how she does. He does think she has mild CP in her left hand, I think what he's mostly waiting on is to see what her leg does and to see what severity her hand is. He did mention that if her thumb begins to constantly tuck in where she can't open it anymore that there is a device they can put there to force her to open it but as of now it's not needed because she is opening and using it, she just prefers her right hand. So everything was very positive for Annabel! He was very happy with Johnathan and Madelyn and wouldn't see them back again for 6 months but since he wants to see Annabel in 4 he said to just bring all three then to make it easier on us. I think for them he's basically going to follow them until they are walking to make sure everything develops appropriately. There was some confusion regarding Johnathan's ENT and a note she made regarding the cause of his hearing loss - she noted that it may have been due to genetics. I don't recall this being mentioned so I'm going to call and find out what she meant by that. From everything he went thru I honestly can't believe it would be anything else but we will see.

After their morning appointment we stopped by my Mom's previous employer to see everyone there who had been praying for the babies. They were all so happy to see them in real life and couldn't believe how big they've gotten!

After that we went to Johnathan and Mady's helmet appointment and they got their new helmets. So now we're in the break-in phase again. So far they're back to their old selves where they don't like it when you put it on but are okay once it's on. Although Mady is a little smarter now and is already working on figuring out the velcro straps so we'll see how long she keeps it on before she'll need a chin strap to force it on.

The other day I was able to get Annabel scheduled for outpatient PT at Mott's for a few weeks this summer so her first session is the 2nd week in July. That is actually our next appointment for anyone as of now. Yeah!!!
