Crazy Weekend

We had a great time camping at Sleeper this past weekend. The weather was absolutely beautiful and although Lake Huron was chilly, it felt great with how hot and humid the air was. The babies even experienced their first dip in Lake Huron and played in the sand a bit too!

It is always fun spending time with the Krohn and Shinault families, they always make us feel like part of the family too! It will be a lot of fun when our babies are more active and all of the kids (will be 6 between us) can play together, although it will be more work keeping an eye on everyone but I think our kids will have fun growing up together!

I would highly recommend the campgrounds to anyone, the sites are large, wooded and if you’re a tenter the facilities are really nice! This year was a challenge camping with the trio simply because there’s not much for them to do yet with not sitting up entirely on their own or crawling a lot and they still require a lot of time for feedings so hopefully next year will be a little easier although then they should be walking so that will introduce a whole new challenge! Hershey and Chloe were really good and are adapting to the camping lifestyle, we’re finally able to trust them to stay near us and not just run off so that makes it easier.

Sunday afternoon we came home and had the long task of unloading the camper in front of us. Well, that ended up being the least of our worries. When we got in the house we could hear our water softener running in the basement (which is odd because it’s programmed to only run at night) so I sent B.J. down to check it out and we had a good 6 inches of water in our basement! : ( Our basement isn’t finished but we had been using it for a lot of storage – two whole computer systems with printer/scanner, treadmill, fridge, foosball table, pool table, wooden bookcase, wooden coffee table, two wooden storage units, card tables, 2 radio systems, 2 tvs, etc. all ruined. And in addition I had been proactive in getting ready for our multiples sale in October and had everything on hangers, sorted by size in boxes and almost all of them got wet so I had to rewash and rehang it all (thank you to my Mom for helping with all this!). Thankfully we received help from my sister and brother-in-law on Sunday and my niece helped take care of the babies so we could tend to everything and thankfully it appears that we have good insurance (plug for Citizens and our agent – Brian Payne) and we will be okay. So needless to say it has been an exhausting week and there is still a lot to take care of so we will be staying put this weekend.

On another note, the babies are doing great! Annabel has been working on clapping lately and last night B.J. got her to feed herself a crunchie stick. Both her bottom and top teeth are very close to coming in - no wonder she's been waking up at night. Mady is now trying to stand up with her legs straight and her arms straight on the ground, she hasn’t pulled up on anything yet but I can see that she’s close! Johnathan has been eating a few solids here and there, he actually fed himself a bit of French toast over the weekend! I keep praying that he will get over his feeding issue soon, it is such a scary problem to have and a big worry. So any extra prayers you can say for him would be appreciated. This afternoon is Annabel's CHAMP evaluation so we'll find out more about the program, I am so excited for her! The babies current weights are Annabel 16lbs 12ozs, Madelyn 14lbs 14ozs, and Johnathan 16lbs 8ozs.

Your kids look great! They are just SO BIG! So sorry to hear about your basement issues. How frustrating after a fun weekend of camping.
