Higgins Lake

This past weekend we went camping at Higgins Lake with our good friends the Shigley's. Laura and I met on a micropreemie blog thru yahoo and discovered that they live about 10 minutes from us! Their son Jonathan also has CP so we have gotten close discussing our kids - therapies, medicines, etc. Not only do we have that in common but we also like to camp, the guys both like to hunt, and I'm hoping to get Laura in to scrapbooking too (hint, hint)! The kids are all close in age and it's great to see them interact, especially to see how interested Jonathan is in the trio and seeing him trying to mimic them.

Camping was a lot of fun but also very tiring. We all decided that for now we'd rather do 3-4 longer trips (at least 4 days) than more shorter trips, with the kids and the dogs it's just too much work to set-up and take down so quickly. The weather this weekend was ok but not great. It was warm on Friday but Saturday was COLD in the morning and then rained at night. We did get a few good walks in and the kids were tired out from all the fresh air and playing. Johnathan and Mady got SO dirty, finally like real kids!! The plan is to have Mady and Johnathan sleep together on the full bed but Johnathan wanted nothing to do with it so thankfully we had the extra pack-n-play along and that's where he slept. Hopefully he'll figure it out soon though because it takes up a lot of space in the open area! Mady enjoyed having the full bed to herself though and loved peeking at us thru the curtain, I caught her in action one night! The guys treated us to some yummy food - smores, ribs, hot dogs, all good camping food. Higgins Lake was very nice overall and we plan to go back sometime when the weather is warmer and we can actually go in the water, it's supposed to be one of the nicest lakes around.

This week is another busy week. The usual tomorrow, Johnathan speech and Annabel aqua, Thursday morning Johnathan and Annabel see the ENT (Annabel's snoring has been a lot softer so hopefully nothing will come of this) and in the afternoon all three have their respective therapies, and this weekend we're going camping again, this time local to Brighton Recreation on Bishop Lake. Saturday morning one of us will take Annabel to hippotherapy, definitely don't want her missing it!
